NONCOMMITTAL
Seemingly I glide across the surface,
So confident, so cool, so refined.
Moving ahead, forceful and with purpose,
To what I need, pay no other no mind.
You saw the cracks in my careful veneer,
Admittedly, I’m not often surprised.
Such a real bother to have you so near,
The recognition quite clear in your eyes.
I see we are similar, you and I,
Soft core in an impenetrable shell.
To go with you and stop living a lie,
A mad leap that not even you could sell.
But then knowing me as I know you do,
You knew I would say no, is that not true?
